I thought I'd reach out and share my thoughts on the product. I've quite enjoyed it so far, it performs mostly as advertised the cover is a little deceptive in that it looks like a screen but isn't. I have noticed that the electrodes have a tendency to shift and don't always apply a proper shock, if my skin is wet in any way - sweat, rain, right out of the shower, etc - this isn't a problem, but it can be frustrating if I'm trying to hit the manual shock button and it doesn't do more than light up. Perhaps I'm just using it wrong, I had thought I followed the provided instructions, but maybe there is another problem that I'm just not seeing. Thanks for your time Deon, on a scale of 1-10 I'd probably give the product a 7, it mostly performs it's job, but it could both do more, and do it better.

PAVLOK STORY:

So the electrodes need to sometimes zap twice before you feel it. The first time creates a microscopic break in the skin so that the shock can enter.
If your device is not snug the shifting can require another break to be created.

USER STORIES

I might just need a smaller band for it, I don't think I made a selection when purchasing and I ended up with an XL, perhaps if I could get a large or medium strap it might sit better.

Turns out I had been adjusting the quick remote and not the device, it's a little better now but still needs a tighter band.

Pavlok 3. Latest app. It seems like the zap ‘times out’ if my phone BLE is out of range.

When I get back in range, my device shows (see pic). If I manually press zap @ my default rate (40%), the lights activate on Pavlok3, but no zap. If I press vibrate, all good. Zap again nothing. Increase zap to 50%, zap works. Return to 40%, works again as it’s supposed to. Not sure if this is a BLE reconnect issue or if it also happens simply with ‘no activity’ for a period of time.

PAVLOK STORY:

You have a fairly high skin resistance. Whereas for most men (males have thicker skin) 30% overcomes it, you need 50%. A tell-tale sign is that after 50%, you can now feel 40%.

Wait long enough and the skins heals and you are back to the start.

Nothing to do with BLE. Everything to do with overcoming skin resistance.

It no longer shocks me. Vibration works and the beeping but not the shock

My Pavlok 3 is not zapping. I tried the scissor test but there is no green light. The vibrate and chime function works

Unsure if this a bug or not but my Pavlok 2 is no longer zapping me when I do so manually or through an alarm in the beta app. Chime and vibrate work normally.

USER STORIES:

My last Pavlok got replaced for it not snapping anymore.

This one has stopped snapping as well. I’m not sure why. I have only used this one specifically for waking up and then it goes on my night stand.

I depend on this device to wake me up. I love you for this invention.. it’s a life saver.

Can you help me try and diagnose what the problem could potentially be? I already tried a hard reset.

Zap quit working. This is my 5th device. I’ve been grateful that they have all been replaced with no questions asked but I have exhausted my hope to get one that lasts longer than a few months. It is a great product concept and works well for a short time. I am a really deep sleeper and it has been a blessing as a morning alarm but because I do rely on this for waking up I can’t keep taking the chance that it will fail me on any given morning. With that said thanks for all of the support thus far.

PAVLOK STORY:

We have a Hardware Zap Failure rate of about 1% across all our devices. We replace all those devices.

First we have to confirm that it's not any other issue by going through the items below.

I don’t feel the snap / snap is not powerful enough! / zap not working

"When I noticed the zap weakening I tried researching if it was a problem, eventually I realized that a specific part of my body got used to the zap and when I moved it to the other arm or inside of my wrist the intensity skyrocketed! "
- DT

Ensure that the device is fairly tight on your wrist and making contact with the skin.

How to test the Zap is working?

1. Open the Pavlok App

2. Click on the Rectangular Shape with a Lightning Bolt inside it. (At the Top Right of the App)

3. You will See Quick Remote
4. Increase the strength of the snap using the slider.
5. Press the button to Zap yourself.

Jam from Pavlok Success Team Adds: Quick Remote does not affect the buttons at all. For that you have to Click on...

"Configure Device Buttons"
You can read more about that here:
https://helpdesk.pavlok.com/en/articles/6418037-how-do-i-customize-the-buttons-on-generation-3-devices

You may need to adjust the intensity from time to time, depending on factors such as room humidity and changing dryness of your skin. Your skin is your body's largest organ and truly an amazing thing! It even has natural protection against electric shocks called 'breakdown resistance'.

This resistance can affect your usage of your Pavlok device, and cause it to appear that the zap feature does not work on the lower strength levels.

To resolve this, all you need to do is slowly increase the zap strength until you feel something. You can increase it by 10% until you feel the zap (50-60% is usually enough).

Once you've done this, you can lower the zap strength back to your preferred level.

It's important to note the breakdown resistance is specific to a certain point in your skin. If you move the device or wear the band loosely - you'll have to follow these steps again. To avoid that, we recommend wearing the band tightly so that the body of the device doesn't move.

Can you share some instructional videos?

Sure can:

I still cannot feel the Zap!

If all else fails...
